Access2Learn DSA Assessment Services

The organisation carries out study needs assessments for students who have been awarded Disabled Students' Allowance funding by Student Finance England, Student Finance Wales, Student Finance Northern Ireland, or other relevant funding bodies. Assessments are conducted with students who have a range of conditions, including specific learning differences such as dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD, mental health conditions, autism spectrum conditions, sensory impairments, and physical or long-term health conditions.

During an assessment, an assessor discusses the student's course requirements, the impact of their condition on study, and the strategies and resources that may help to mitigate these barriers. Following the assessment, the service produces a Needs Assessment Report that is submitted to the student's funding body.

The report sets out recommendations for assistive technology, specialist software, ergonomic equipment, non-medical helper support such as specialist study skills tuition or mentoring, and travel allowances where applicable. Assessments are offered both in person at the assessment centre and remotely via video conferencing.

The service is intended for prospective and current undergraduate, postgraduate, and distance learning students in further and higher education across the United Kingdom.
