Description

BrainPOP Science is a digital learning platform used for delivering science instruction to primary and secondary school students through animated videos, interactive simulations, and formative assessments.

Aimed primarily at students in Years 3 to 9 (grades 3 to 8 in the US system), the platform organises content around the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and covers disciplines including physical science, life science, earth and space science, and engineering. Lessons are structured around phenomena-based learning, in which students investigate real-world events or observations and use evidence to develop explanations.

Each topic typically combines an animated video featuring the characters Tim and Moby with follow-on activities such as virtual labs, simulations, vocabulary exercises, concept maps, and quizzes that can be used for formative or summative assessment. Teachers using BrainPOP Science have access to lesson planning resources, classroom management tools, and reporting dashboards that track student progress and identify gaps in understanding.

The platform supports integration with learning management systems and single sign-on providers commonly used in schools, including Google Classroom, Clever, and ClassLink, allowing accounts and class rosters to be synchronised. Content is available in English and Spanish, and the service is sold to schools and districts through subscription licensing.

BrainPOP Science is one of several subject-specific products offered by BrainPOP, which also produces materials for mathematics, social studies, English, health, and the arts.
