Checkology Virtual Classroom

Developed by the News Literacy Project, the platform provides a library of lessons covering topics such as identifying misinformation, evaluating sources, understanding the role of journalism, and recognising bias in news content. Lessons are organised into collections aligned with curriculum standards and include video instruction from journalists, educators, and subject-matter experts.

The platform supports both classroom-based teaching and independent student learning, with materials suitable for use across subject areas including English, social studies, and media studies. Teachers using the platform can create classes, assign lessons, track student progress, and review completed work through an administrative dashboard.

Checkology includes assessment tools that measure student understanding of news literacy concepts, along with reporting features that allow educators to monitor learning outcomes. The service is offered free of charge to educators and is aligned with educational standards in the United States, including Common Core and state-level frameworks for English Language Arts and social studies.
