Users can manually adjust suggested placements, view conflicts against defined rules, and produce final class lists for the new academic year. Class Solver is supplied as a cloud-based service and is used by primary and secondary schools internationally, including state schools, independent schools, and multi-academy trusts.

The system includes features for managing student profiles, tracking requests and constraints, and generating reports on the composition of proposed classes. It is designed to replace manual class placement processes that schools have traditionally carried out using spreadsheets or paper-based methods, and is typically used annually during transition periods between year groups.
