Description

CoGrader is an AI-powered essay grading platform used by K-12 educators to score student writing and open-ended responses against rubrics and provide individualised feedback.

Designed for primary and secondary school teachers, the platform analyses student submissions against teacher-defined or uploaded rubrics and produces per-student feedback reports, suggested scores, and class-level performance summaries. Teachers can review, adjust, and approve AI-generated grades before publishing them, and the system supports rubrics aligned to state and national assessments including STAAR, CAASPP, Florida B.E.S.T., NY Regents, AP, and IB.

Additional functionality includes multi-language grading, AI plagiarism detection, identification of learning gaps across a class, and differentiated feedback intended to support diverse learner needs. CoGrader integrates with Google Classroom, Canvas, and Schoology to import assignments and export grades back into existing gradebooks.

The service is delivered as a web application and is offered free to individual teachers, with custom plans available for schools and districts. The company reports that the platform has been used to grade more than two million assignments across over 1,000 schools in the United States.

CoGrader states that it is FERPA, COPPA, SOPIPA, and Ed Law 2D compliant, aligned with NIST 1.1, and SOC 2 Type 1 certified, and that student data is de-identified and not used to train AI models. The company was founded in 2023 and is backed by UC Berkeley SkyDeck, Microsoft for Startups, and Google for Startups.
