Description

Construct 3 is a browser-based 2D game development platform used for creating games and interactive content through a visual, event-based programming system without requiring traditional coding.

Developed by Scirra, the platform runs entirely within a web browser and operates on Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS and tablet devices, removing the need for software installation on school computers. Games are built using a visual event sheet system in which users define behaviour through conditions and actions, allowing pupils to construct interactive projects without writing JavaScript or other programming languages.

For more advanced learners, the platform also supports custom scripting in JavaScript, providing a progression route from visual logic to text-based coding. In educational settings, Construct 3 is used across primary, secondary and further education to teach computational thinking, problem solving, game design and elements of the computing curriculum.

The platform includes classroom management features such as group licences, student accounts and project sharing, alongside built-in tutorials, example projects and teaching resources. Completed projects can be exported to multiple formats including HTML5, Android, iOS and desktop platforms, enabling pupils to publish and share their work.

The service is offered on a subscription basis with dedicated plans for schools, colleges and universities.
