Dash
Description
Dash is a programmable educational robot developed by Wonder Workshop used for teaching coding, computational thinking, and STEM concepts to primary and elementary school children.
Manufactured by Wonder Workshop, the robot features a three-wheeled mobile chassis with sensors, microphones, speakers, and LED lights, and is controlled through a suite of free companion applications available on iOS, Android, Kindle Fire, and select Chromebook devices. Pupils program the robot using block-based coding environments such as Blockly, as well as additional apps including Wonder, Go, Path, and Xylo, with progression pathways that introduce concepts such as sequences, loops, conditionals, events, and variables.
Dash responds to voice commands, navigates around obstacles, and can be extended through physical accessories including a xylophone attachment, building brick connectors, launchers, and bulldozer bars. Dash is intended for learners aged six and above and is commonly used in primary classrooms, coding clubs, and library programmes to support computing curricula.
Wonder Workshop provides accompanying teacher resources, lesson plans, and the Class Connect platform for managing pupil accounts and tracking progress across a class or school. The robot is also used in structured learning programmes such as the Wonder League Robotics Competition and Teach Wonder professional development for educators.
Dash is compatible with classroom sets and can be combined with the related Dot and Cue robots within the same software ecosystem.
