The platform provides access to ArcGIS Online and associated mapping tools for use in subjects such as geography, history, science, and social studies. The service includes a library of lesson plans, instructional resources, and curriculum-aligned activities developed for primary and secondary education, along with professional development materials to support teachers in integrating GIS into their lessons. Alongside classroom applications, the platform offers tools for school district administrators to manage facilities, plan transport routes, analyse student demographics, support boundary planning, and assess safety and emergency preparedness.

Esri provides the ArcGIS software at no cost to individual public, private, and home schools in eligible countries through its schools programme, with district-wide licensing available for larger deployments. Additional resources include the GeoInquiries collection of short map-based activities, ArcGIS StoryMaps for student projects, and community support through user groups and online learning content.
