Girls Who Code

Founded in 2012 by Reshma Saujani, the organisation operates a range of programmes designed to introduce computer science to school-age and university-age participants. Its offerings include after-school Clubs for students in years 3 to 12, a Summer Immersion Programme for high school students, and college and career programmes that support participants entering the technology workforce.

The curriculum covers topics such as web development, mobile app design, robotics, data science, and artificial intelligence, delivered through project-based learning activities. In addition to direct instruction, Girls Who Code provides curriculum resources, books, and online learning materials accessible to educators, parents, and students.

The organisation also runs advocacy and community-building initiatives, including a sisterhood network for alumni, partnerships with technology companies for internships and mentoring, and a strategic plan known as Five by Five which aims to reach five million participants by 2030. Programmes are primarily delivered in the United States, with international expansion into Canada, India, and the United Kingdom.
