Description
Hello Ruby is a children's book series and accompanying digital platform used for introducing programming concepts, computational thinking, and computer science fundamentals to children aged five and older through stories and activities.
Created by Finnish author and programmer Linda Liukas, the franchise began as an illustrated children's book and has expanded to include additional titles, digital exercises, outdoor playground activities, and instructional videos. The materials cover topics such as programming fundamentals, how computers work, the internet, and artificial intelligence, presented through narrative stories featuring the character Ruby and her friends.
Content is structured around exercises that combine reading with hands-on activities, including unplugged tasks that do not require a computer. The platform offers more than 150 printable activities under its Play and Learn section, alongside a Playgrounds initiative that adapts computer science concepts into outdoor learning experiences.
