Description

iboss is a cloud-based security service edge (SASE) platform used by educational institutions for web filtering, content control, and network security across school-owned and student devices.

Designed for primary, secondary, and higher education environments, the platform provides web filtering, malware protection, and data loss prevention through a cloud-delivered architecture. It includes content categorisation tools that allow administrators to apply filtering policies aligned with safeguarding requirements such as the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) in the United States and Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance in the United Kingdom.

The service operates across managed and unmanaged devices, including Chromebooks, Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android, and applies policies both on and off the school network. The platform offers reporting and monitoring features that record web activity, flag potential safeguarding concerns, and generate alerts for behaviour such as searches relating to self-harm, violence, or radicalisation.

Integration with directory services including Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra ID, and Active Directory enables user-based and group-based policy application. Additional functionality includes SSL inspection, bandwidth management, and remote browser isolation.

iboss is typically deployed by school districts, multi-academy trusts, and universities to meet regulatory compliance obligations and to manage internet access for students and staff.
