Description
IXL Learning Platform is a subscription-based online learning service that provides practice exercises in mathematics, English, and science for primary and secondary school pupils across more than 8,000 curriculum-aligned topics.
The platform offers interactive questions across a range of subjects, with content organised by year group and aligned to the national curriculum in England, as well as curricula used in other countries. Pupils work through adaptive exercises that adjust in difficulty based on their responses, and the system provides immediate feedback on answers along with explanations for incorrect attempts.
Progress is tracked through a SmartScore system, and pupils earn virtual awards and certificates as they complete skills. IXL is used by individual families through home subscriptions and by schools through institutional licences.
Teacher and administrator accounts include diagnostic tools, reporting features, and analytics that show pupil performance at the individual, class, and school level. The service is available through web browsers and via mobile applications for iOS and Android devices.
IXL Learning, the company behind the platform, also operates related educational products and provides versions of the service tailored to different national curricula, including separate sites for the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Singapore, India, and South Africa.
