Description

Jamf Parent is a mobile application used for managing restrictions and app access on school-issued Apple devices assigned to children, allowing parents to apply controls during designated periods outside school hours.

The application functions as a companion tool to Jamf School, the company's mobile device management (MDM) platform for educational institutions. Schools using Jamf School can enable parental controls through this app, granting parents the ability to restrict applications, limit device features, and apply usage policies on Apple devices issued to their children.

Available for iOS, iPadOS, and Android, the app connects to the school's Jamf School instance, allowing parents to manage devices remotely without requiring direct technical knowledge of MDM systems. Within the app, parents can apply pre-configured restriction sets defined by the school, schedule periods of restricted use such as bedtime or homework time, and temporarily disable specific applications or device functions including the camera and web browser.

The scope of parental control is determined by the school administrator, who configures which features parents are permitted to manage outside of school hours. Jamf Parent is provided as part of the Jamf School subscription and is used in primary, secondary, and higher education settings where one-to-one Apple device programmes are in operation.
