Description

KIBO STEAM Robot is a screen-free educational robotics kit used for teaching coding, computational thinking, and STEAM concepts to children aged four to seven through hands-on programming with wooden blocks.

Developed by KinderLab Robotics, the kit consists of a wooden robot body with motors, sensors, and modular attachments that can be programmed using physical wooden coding blocks. Each block contains a barcode representing a programming instruction, and children create sequences by arranging the blocks and scanning them with the robot's onboard scanner.

The robot then executes the programmed sequence without requiring a computer, tablet, or screen-based interface. Standard sensors include light, sound, and distance detection, and the platform supports expansion modules such as art kits, expression modules, and marker holders for drawing activities.

KIBO is used in early years and primary classrooms, libraries, and informal learning environments to introduce foundational concepts in computer science, engineering, and design. The system is structured around constructionist learning principles and is commonly incorporated into curricula covering literacy, mathematics, science, art, and social studies.

Teachers can integrate KIBO into project-based lessons, and supporting materials include lesson plans, curriculum guides, and professional development resources. The product is available in several configurations with varying numbers of coding blocks and sensor accessories to suit different age groups and classroom settings.
