Learnosity Assessment Engine

The platform consists of a collection of application programming interfaces (APIs) that developers integrate into their own products to provide assessment functionality. Components include an authoring tool for creating questions and assessments, a question and items library supporting over 70 question types, a player for delivering assessments to learners, an analytics engine for reporting on performance, and data services for managing assessment content.

The system supports a range of item types including multiple choice, drag-and-drop, mathematical input, audio and video responses, and graphing questions. Automated and manual marking workflows are available, along with rubric-based scoring for open-ended responses.

Learnosity is used by educational publishers, assessment organisations, higher education institutions, and edtech companies to embed assessment capabilities within their existing platforms rather than building assessment functionality from scratch. The APIs include features for accessibility compliance, secure assessment delivery, and integration with learning management systems through standards such as LTI and QTI.

The platform also incorporates AI-assisted authoring tools to support content creation and item generation. Assessments produced using the engine can be deployed across formative classroom activities, summative examinations, and high-stakes testing scenarios, with hosting infrastructure designed to support concurrent test takers at scale.
