Look to Read

Developed by Smartbox, the software is designed to run on AAC devices such as the Grid Pad and can be operated using eye gaze technology, switches, or touch input. It contains a library of accessible books alongside structured literacy activities that cover phonics, word recognition, and reading comprehension.

The content is organised to support learners at different stages of literacy development, from early symbol recognition through to independent reading. The software is used in special schools, mainstream classrooms with SEND provision, and home settings to support pupils who require alternative methods of accessing written material.

Activities are designed to be operated independently by the user, allowing learners with physical or communication difficulties to engage with reading material at their own pace. Look to Read integrates with the wider Grid software environment, enabling teachers and therapists to incorporate literacy practice within a pupil's existing communication setup.
