MathType

Developed by Wiris, the software provides a graphical interface with toolbars and keyboard shortcuts for constructing equations using mathematical symbols, templates, and structures. It supports a range of notation including algebra, calculus, statistics, geometry, chemistry, and physics, and can output equations in formats such as MathML, LaTeX, and image files.

Handwriting recognition is included, allowing users to draw equations using a mouse, stylus, or touchscreen and convert them into typeset notation. The editor integrates with word processors, presentation tools, and content creation platforms including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Google Docs, as well as with learning management systems such as Moodle, Canvas, Schoology, and Blackboard.

It is used in educational settings by teachers preparing lesson materials, assessments, and worksheets, and by students producing coursework involving mathematical content. MathType also supports accessibility standards by generating equations that can be read by screen readers, and it is available through individual, institutional, and site licence arrangements.
