Microsoft Stream

Integrated with the Microsoft 365 suite, the service allows users to record, edit, and distribute videos through SharePoint, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams. Videos uploaded to the platform are stored on OneDrive or SharePoint and inherit the permissions and governance controls of those services.

Features include automatic transcription, closed captions, searchable transcripts, chapter markers, and viewer analytics. Users can record screen captures and webcam footage directly within the browser, and trim or modify videos using built-in editing tools.

In educational settings, Microsoft Stream is used by schools, colleges, and universities to host recorded lectures, training materials, staff briefings, and student presentations. Teachers can embed videos within Microsoft Teams classrooms, OneNote notebooks, and SharePoint pages, while students can submit video assignments through the integrated tools.

The platform supports accessibility through automatic captioning in multiple languages and provides administrators with controls over sharing permissions, retention policies, and compliance settings aligned with broader Microsoft 365 governance.
