Microsoft Teams for Education

The platform combines chat, video meetings, file storage, and application integration within a single interface designed for educational settings. Teachers can create class teams to organise lessons, distribute assignments, provide feedback, and manage grades through an integrated assignments and grades feature.

Channels within each team allow for topic-based discussions, while the meetings function supports virtual classrooms, parent-teacher conferences, and staff briefings with features such as breakout rooms, raise hand, together mode, and meeting recordings with transcripts. Microsoft Teams for Education is part of the Microsoft 365 Education suite and integrates with applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote Class Notebook, Forms, and OneDrive.

The service supports staff collaboration through professional learning communities and staff teams, and includes administrative tools for IT managers to configure policies, manage user accounts, and control access. Accessibility features such as live captions, immersive reader, and translation are included, and the platform is available across web, desktop, and mobile devices.

It is commonly deployed by primary, secondary, and higher education institutions as part of broader Microsoft 365 tenant agreements.
