MLC Math Clock

Developed by the Math Learning Center, a non-profit educational organisation, the application provides digital clock faces that pupils can manipulate to investigate mathematical concepts related to time. Users can adjust the hour and minute hands either as geared pairs that move proportionally, or as independent hands for more flexible exploration.

The tool includes features for displaying digital time alongside the analogue representation, marking sections of the clock face to represent fractions, and writing or drawing annotations directly on the work area. The Math Clock is one of several free virtual manipulatives produced by the Math Learning Center and is available as a browser-based web application as well as native applications for iOS and Windows devices.

It is typically used in primary and early secondary mathematics classrooms to support instruction on telling time, calculating elapsed time, understanding angles, and exploring fractional relationships using the 12-hour clock face. The application is designed for use by teachers during whole-class demonstrations on interactive whiteboards as well as by individual pupils on tablets or computers, and requires no login or account registration.
