Description

Ned2 is a 6-axis educational robotic arm used for teaching robotics, automation, and programming concepts in schools, universities, and technical training environments.

Designed by Niryo, Ned2 is a desktop-sized articulated robotic arm with six degrees of freedom, intended for use in classrooms, laboratories, and workshops. The system is open-source and built around industry-inspired hardware and software, allowing learners to study concepts that mirror those used in industrial robotics.

Programming can be carried out through multiple interfaces, including a block-based visual environment suitable for beginners, as well as Python and the Robot Operating System (ROS) for more advanced users. The arm supports a range of interchangeable end-effectors, including grippers, a vacuum pump, and an electromagnet, enabling pick-and-place tasks, sorting exercises, and integration with conveyor belts and vision sets.

Ned2 is typically used in secondary schools, further education colleges, and higher education institutions to deliver curricula in robotics, mechatronics, computer science, and STEM subjects. Teaching resources, lesson plans, and documentation are provided to support classroom delivery, and the robot can be connected to external sensors and modules to construct simulated production lines.

The plug-and-play design allows the unit to be deployed on standard desks without specialist installation, and its open architecture permits learners to inspect and modify both the control software and hardware configuration as part of practical coursework.
