Description
NovaChat 10 is a dedicated augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) device used by individuals with speech and language difficulties to generate spoken output through symbol-based or text-based input on a 10-inch touchscreen.
Manufactured by PRC-Saltillo, the device runs the Chat software platform and supports a range of vocabulary files, including WordPower and other symbol-based page sets developed for users with complex communication needs. The hardware features a 10-inch touchscreen, integrated speakers, and a protective casing designed for daily use, and it can be configured with different access methods to accommodate users with varying physical and cognitive abilities.
In educational settings, NovaChat 10 is used by speech and language therapists, special educational needs (SEND) coordinators, and teaching staff supporting pupils who require AAC. The device allows vocabulary pages to be customised by therapists and educators to reflect classroom topics, personal interests, and curriculum content, and includes editing tools for adjusting button layouts, adding symbols, and recording messages.
Output can be produced through synthesised or recorded speech, and the device supports data logging for monitoring communication progress over time.
