Developed by WCBS (West Country Business Systems), the platform comprises a suite of modules covering the core financial and administrative functions of an independent school bursary. Modules include Billing, which handles the payment relationships typical of fee-paying schools; a General Ledger for accounting; and a Payroll module recognised by HMRC and compliant with Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements.

The system is deployed on-premise and is designed specifically for the independent education sector rather than as a generic finance package. PassFinance is used by bursars, finance officers, and HR and payroll staff to manage fee invoicing, account reconciliation, supplier payments, employee records, and statutory reporting.

It supports the complex billing arrangements found in independent schools, such as multiple payers per pupil, sibling discounts, scholarships, and bursaries.
