Piper Make Base Station

The Base Station includes a Raspberry Pi Pico microcontroller, breadboard, jumper wires, LEDs, buttons, a buzzer, and other electronic components packaged for use with the Piper Make online learning platform. Learners connect the kit to a computer via USB and use a browser-based interface to write programs using a drag-and-drop block coding environment, which is built on the Blockly framework.

Projects guide users through building circuits and writing code to control the connected hardware, covering topics such as inputs, outputs, sensors, and basic electronics. The kit is designed for use in classrooms, after-school clubs, and home learning environments, typically aimed at children aged eight and above.

It is produced by Piper, a company that develops STEM education products combining physical computing with structured coding lessons. The Base Station forms part of a wider Piper Make ecosystem that includes additional sensor packs, expansion kits, and curriculum materials intended to introduce students to programming, electronics, and computational thinking through hands-on projects.
