PLTW Curriculum
Description
PLTW Curriculum is a STEM and career and technical education (CTE) programme used for delivering hands-on, project-based learning in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science to primary and secondary school students.
Developed by Project Lead The Way, a non-profit organisation based in the United States, the curriculum is organised into five pathways: Launch for primary years, Gateway for middle school, and three secondary school programmes covering Computer Science, Engineering, and Biomedical Science. Each pathway consists of structured units and modules that follow an activity, project, and problem-based instructional approach, with content aligned to academic standards and industry practices.
Schools adopting the curriculum receive lesson plans, classroom resources, student materials, and assessments, alongside teacher professional development and ongoing implementation support. The programme also provides access to digital learning platforms, equipment specifications, and partnerships with post-secondary institutions and employers.
PLTW is used by schools and districts across the United States to deliver coursework that integrates science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with career-readiness skills.
