ReadWorks
Description
ReadWorks is an educational technology non-profit organisation that provides reading comprehension resources, including articles, question sets, and digital tools, for use by teachers and students in primary and secondary education.
The platform offers a library of reading passages spanning fiction, non-fiction, and poetry across grade levels from Pre-K through to 11-12 and adult learners. Content is organised by skills and strategies such as main idea, author's purpose, inferred information, cause and effect, sequence, plot structure, vocabulary in context, and figurative language.
Materials are also categorised by domain, covering subjects including social studies (U.S. history, world history, civics, geography), science (life science, physical science, earth and space science, technology and engineering), and the arts.
ReadWorks supplies question sets aligned to passages, with question types including literal, inferential, key detail, and complex literal questions. The service is used by classroom teachers, reading and literacy specialists, special education teachers, instructional coaches, librarians, paraprofessionals, tutors, homeschoolers, and parents or guardians.
As a non-profit organisation, ReadWorks focuses on supporting reading comprehension instruction in schools across the United States, with resources made available to educators for classroom and remote learning contexts.
