Description

SketchUp for Schools is a browser-based 3D modelling application used by primary and secondary schools to design, visualise, and create three-dimensional models for classroom instruction across subjects including design technology, mathematics, and geography.

The platform runs entirely within a web browser and integrates with Google Workspace for Education and Microsoft 365, allowing pupils and teachers to sign in using their existing school accounts. Models created within the application are saved to the institution's connected cloud storage, and access is restricted to verified educational users through domain-based authentication.

The tool provides drawing, push/pull modelling, component creation, and measurement functions, alongside a library of pre-built 3D components accessible through the 3D Warehouse. SketchUp for Schools is provided at no cost to qualifying primary and secondary educational institutions and is part of the wider SketchUp product range developed by Trimble Inc.

The service is accompanied by a curriculum library containing lesson plans, project guides, and tutorials aligned with subjects such as STEM, art and design, geography, and design and technology. Educator resources include training materials, certification pathways, and a community forum for sharing classroom projects.

The application is typically used for teaching spatial reasoning, architectural design, product prototyping, and geometric concepts.
