Sustainability Management Simulation: Net Zero

Set in a city-centre hotel, the simulation places participants in the role of leaders responsible for delivering an emissions reduction programme. Through gameplay, learners encounter the choices, trade-offs and consequences associated with corporate decarbonisation, including operational decisions affecting energy use, capital investment in efficiency measures, and the broader strategic implications of pursuing net zero targets.

The simulation is available in English and Spanish, and has been used in higher education and executive education contexts, including a demonstration webinar hosted by Harvard Business Publishing. The simulation received the Gold Medal at the 2022 Serious Play Awards and was Highly Commended at the 2023 Financial Times Responsible Business Education Awards.

It forms part of the Sim Institute portfolio of management simulations and is typically used in business schools, sustainability courses and corporate training programmes to provide hands-on experience of carbon management decision-making.
