Description

Wonderbook Read-Along is a pre-loaded audiobook device attached to a physical print book, used in schools and libraries to support emergent readers through simultaneous listening and reading.

Each Wonderbook unit combines a hardcover or paperback children's book with an integrated audio player permanently affixed to the back cover. The device contains built-in narration of the accompanying text and operates without the need for downloads, internet connectivity, additional discs, or a separate playback device.

Controls typically include play, pause, volume adjustment, and chapter navigation, with a headphone jack for individual listening. Power is supplied by replaceable batteries, and units include a low-battery indicator.

The product is distributed by Playaway, a division of LAVA (Library and Audio-Visual Authority), and is marketed primarily to public libraries, school libraries, and early years settings. Titles span picture books, early readers, and chapter books, and are intended to support literacy development by allowing children to follow printed text while hearing the narration.

Wonderbook units are catalogued and circulated using standard library systems, and are commonly used in guided reading sessions, English as an additional language (EAL) provision, and support for pupils with reading difficulties or visual impairments.
